What is a Cannabis Consultation?A cannabis consultation is 15, 30, or 45 minutes chat with a cannabis expert who will educate you as much as you desire about how to work with cannabis safely and effectively. ...Think of it like this, you now have legal access to a retail stores or delivery services able to provide cannabis products: edibles, tinctures, topical ointments, capsules, flowers, concentrates; Each product has different ingredients, a different method of production, and most importantly a different blend cannabinoids like THC, CBD, THC-a, CBG, CBN, THC-v Many people are now wondering which products will help them best remedy their ailments in a safe and affordable way. Or they're finding limited success, and are wondering how to get more consistent results. Ideally there's a store up the street with short lines, and very knowledgeable people behind the counter ready to chat with you for 30 minutes about your ailments and how best to address them. For most people this is not the reality. I decided to create a way that you can phone or video chat an expert on demand and affordably. You're welcome. ____________________________________

How are you qualified to offer this?I'm glad you asked. I'm Dan. I'm a writer, educator, cannabis coach, and business consultant. I've spent the last 14 years fascinated with cannabis, ever since my earliest experiences. Those experiences were very positive; fun, joyous, they opened me up to an appreciation of art, music, and nature I had never known. These early experiences increased the depth of my personal relationships and enhanced my love of good food. Since then I spent 14 years learning everything I could about this plant that helped me, so that I could continue to help myself and others. After college, I moved to California in 2011 and worked just about every role of the cannabis industry from grower to trimmer to delivery service owner. I read the medical research I can find online, talk to cannabis doctors, speak with product manufacturers about production techniques, and talk to elders who have been healing others with cannabis in California since 1996 Whether when working as a retail consultant at the largest dispensary in the country, or when advising people about products by phone while working for a small delivery service in Santa Cruz, I've always enjoyed educating others and guiding people to their best options. I've done this for several years and offered well over ten thousand consultations. Currently, I'm finishing a book Cannabis Roadmap to more widely share this helpful yet under-utilized knowledge. I also work privately as an educational consultant for cannabis businesses around the U.S. I don't know everything! But I know a lot more than nothing, and I'm well qualified to help you understand more too. ____________________________________

Can THC or CBD help my Pets? The short answer is YES. Properly utilized Cannabis products tend to work very well for dogs and cats, particularly in regards to pain and anxiety issues. I've heard many many people report very positive results. Especially given how widespread the prescription of opioids is for older animals in pain, I'm shocked more people don't utilize these approaches. Since all mammals have endocannabinoid systems capable of efficiently processing the phytocannabinoids found in cannabis, its very possible that other types of pets will benefit as well. Beyond pain and anxiety relief, clinical animal research suggests that it may offer significant benefit for many types of Cancer as well. From Cancer.org, the American Cancer Society website: "More recently, scientists reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in lab dishes. Some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may slow growth and reduce spread of some forms of cancer." If you'd like to know more about what works best for what and why, a brief 15 min consultation should do it. Or you can read my book :-) ____________________________________

Does Cannabis help Cancer patients?Yes. There is really no debate whatsoever, cannabis is very helpful for treating the negative symptoms that tend to accompany chemotherapy: combating nausea, gaining back appetite, and generally soothing the system. I am happy to explain how you can get the most from your treatment. ____________________________________

But does Cannabis cure cancer?Based on talking to those who have served cancer patients since 1996, as well as cancer survivors, and initial clinical evidence from animals studies; I would say it seems likely that certain types of cancer respond very favorably to certain cannabis approaches. I'm speaking mainly of the Rick Simpson (Phoenix tears) approach where one uses Full Extract cannabis oil building up to saturation dosing at 1 gram per day split into 3-4 equal intervals of an oil with a reasonably small CBD-THC ratio (Closer to 1-1 than 10-1). There's more info about Rick Simpson and his approach at www.phoenixtears.ca Its very clear that without taking the cannabis therapy approaches seriously, occasional sporadic use does not magically cure cancer. Smoking can be a great way to relieve nausea after chemo but it won't knock out the cancer on its own. I know that to some, these cancer cure claims will seem absurd. Even for me, I've spent over ten years thinking that Rick Simpson's claims are perhaps overly broad and overly optimistic: “This harmless non addictive natural medication can be used with great success, to cure or control cancer, MS, pain, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, infections, inflammations, blood pressure, depression, sleeping problems and just about any other medical issues that one can imagine.” (http://phoenixtears.ca/natures-answer-for-cancer/) However, I've been astounded to keep hearing positive reports over the last 10 years about the beneficial effects of saturation dosing on many types of extreme health conditions, including several forms of cancer. The past ten years has not revealed Rick Simpson's claims to be fraudulent. Quite the contrary, current clinical animal research points in a similar direction. On its website The National Cancer Institute, part of the US department of health, said that in laboratory and animal studies, "Cannabinoids appear to kill tumor cells but do not affect their nontransformed counterparts and may even protect them from cell death.""One study in mice and rats suggested that cannabinoids may have a protective effect against the development of certain types of tumors. A dose-related decrease in the incidence of hepatic adenoma tumors and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was observed in the mice. Decreased incidences of benign tumors (pollyps and adenomas) in other organs (mammary-gland, uterus, pituitary, testis, and pancreas) were also noted in the rats." Due to the research showing evidence of cannabis' ability to protect non transformed cells, while killing tumor cells, while also protecting against the development of certain types of tumors; it shows great promise as an adjunct to (and perhaps in some cases, replacement for) chemo therapy. While the National Cancer Institute is not yet ready to make such bold statements about if and how cannabis can help cure cancer; I'm here to confirm that many people have been testing these claims and seeing positive results. In some cases astonishing. For my book, I interviewed a friend's mother who did the saturation dosing along with chemotherapy. At age 65, she started with a terminal diagnoses after a tumor she didn't know about ruptured her appendix, spreading throughout her internal organs. She chose to to do the saturation dosing approach in conjuntion with her recommended chemotherapy schedule; 6 months she was cancer free and remains so two years later. After those 6 months, she switched to a smaller maintenance dose ongoing. Of all the people she spoke with in her cancer support group, she had the least negative effects of chemo treatment by far, and never had to miss an appointment. For those of you that don't know, and its possible your doctor hasn't told you this, but it is more or less expected that when chemo happens every week or two over several months, you will eventually feel too sick to make some of your scheduled appointments. You may need to miss or postpone these appointments due to the intense side effects. The claim that cannabis (in sufficient dosing with proper cannabinoids) can be used for cancer tumor prevention, cancer cell death, and protecting nontransformed cells from certain harmful effect of both cancer and chemotherapy, no longer seems far fetched. There's even fairly strong theories on why this might be. Still, with all these reasons for optimism, its unlikely that any one approach will be effective for all types of cancer. Much more human research is needed to flush out which approaches work best for which cancers and why. While no one has these answers definitively, I'd like to share some wisdom from another person I interviewed for my book, Valerie Corral (founder of WAMM: Women and Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana) who has been supporting cancer patients with cannabis for over 40 years. I asked her if she saw any pattern to who benefits and who doesn't around utilizing cannabis to treat and cure cancer? She said she personally has "not seen as much success with hormonal based cancers". "Lung cancers responds really well to high dose THC. One thing from what I have seen, is that one of the of the most imperative things for this treatment is that you maintain the ingestion of cannabis, CBD and THC both, and I’d say probably forever. For the rest of your life." "With cancers, its obvious, to me, you have to keep maintaining ingestion [to stay cancer free]." I'm not charging for any of the above info because cancer sucks. If you need me on your team as a support through additional questions, I'm still available to further clarify how to intelligently work up to saturation dosing; as well as other ways to use cannabis in support of your healing. ____________________________________

Can I trust my information is safe? You have the option of paying for a session securely with your credit card through Wix.com payment processing, or through Paypal; information is NOT stored, which means your financial information is safe. We're not selling the basic info you give us when you sign up for a consultation, it really just helps us serve you better. How long is a consultation? Each consultation is 15, 30, or 45 minutes. You can book a session on our Booking page. Finding out to use cannabis for a better nights sleep for example, I can likely lay out the approaches in under 15 minutes. If you want to deeply understand the logic and experience behind those options being ideal that may take closer to 30 minutes. A little more "teach a person to fish" approach. If you want to know your options, understand them, and share more of your personal story, that may take up to 45 minutes. ____________________________________

How often will I need a consultation? It depends. How often would you like to be listened to, respected, and educated about cannabis? For some people this will be one time. Just enough information to resolve one issue or get their bearings before they head into a dispensary ready to spend some money. For others this could be a weekly check in as they try to slowly get off of opioids and other pharmaceuticals with safer cannabis alternatives. Most issues will be resolved within one to two sessions. By "resolved" I mean that they will understand their options for addressing the specific issue with cannabis and will know how to safely proceed exploring those options and understanding the results. While cannabis works great for many things, it doesn't work wonders for everyone in every situation. "Resolved" could also mean you understand, and have tried your best currently available options with cannabis and are aware that it isn't the best tool for your situation, but from a place of having explored what is available. ____________________________________

Do we need your personal story? No. I'm really here to educate about what I've seen and experienced as effective to make your buying choices simpler. You can share about yourself if you would like, but only if that feels healing and productive for you since you are paying for the time. With that said, I recognize that for many people, just being heard and supported is a major part of the healing! Especially if you have cancer or struggle with addiction to pain pills, it can be scary to share your experience with others. Finding a safe space to do sharing without judgement can mean a lot and help one to feel supported in changing these habits. I am proud to offer this safe space of respectful listening, where people can share their personal stories. It does happen some of the time. I enjoy helping people in this way. However, it usually isn't necessary to benefit from a consultation. ____________________________________

Do you sell any products or rep any cannabis brands?Nope. At this stage of my cannabis career, I'm all about the information. I see way too many product venders trying to convince sick people that all of their problems will be solved and best solved through only their selection of (fill in the blank: oil cartridges, edibles, flowers, topical ointments) Yuck. I'm actually here to help listen and educate you. I won't sell you any products or provide access. I'm assuming you have access and want an unbiased support structure to help you find what really works for you and clarify why that product, cannabinoid ratio, or terpene profile seems to be effective. ____________________________________

Feel free to inquire more by email. I will be sure to reply within 2-3 business days. ____________________________________
